On October 22, for the 7th consecutive year, Pharmascience welcomed both young and old to its annual Youth Leadership Day event. This year, over 250 people, including employees and their children aged 7 to 17, enjoyed workshops and conferences centred on the theme: “Find your strength.”

“At Pharmascience, we recognize the development potential of young people and their important role in our society. That’s why, among other reasons, we were named one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People in 2017. Our children are going to be the leaders of tomorrow, and through them our society can evolve and grow over the next few decades. With this in mind, we are committed to helping them develop qualities that will allow them to become influential leaders,” said David Goodman, Chief Executive Officer of Pharmascience Inc. “An event likeYouth Leadership Day is perfectly aligned with this vision of ours. It allows us to promote the development of our young people by teaching them about leadership and team spirit.”

The activities took place in the magnificent Rosalind and Morris Goodman Agora at the University of Montreal, which was the perfect setting to share the day’s discoveries and festivities.

A rapt audience listened as Alexandre Despatie gave a touching account of his career as a diver and now broadcaster. With infectious passion, he shared the secrets of his determination, and stories from his career. The kids in the audience, in turn, were able to play the part of talk-show host and conduct an interview themselves.

Yannick Bergeron, creator of the experiments of the Les Débrouillards magazine, captivated kids with his energy and scientific demonstrations. In an actual classroom, the kids experimented with gravity and all concepts related to force in the most fun-filled activities.

The workshops for parents included a private lecture given by Nectarios Economakis, a former Account Director at Google who launched PNR, a management consultancy firm specializing in social networks.

The day ended on a happy note. After a well-deserved lunch, everyone got together in the foyer of the Agora to listen to La Voix season five winner Ludovick Bourgeois sing.
