To address drug-shortage issues throughout the pharmaceutical industry, we have committed to continuous improvements in production capacity. In 2011, we opened a new plant in Montreal and hired additional staff, increasing our production capacity by 50%. Other expansions occurred in 2012 and 2016, increasing our production capacity even further.
All together, these expansions amount to an investment of more than $60 million.
Along with our expansions, we have worked diligently to streamline hundreds of internal processes, from forecasting to production planning and to introduce new products, in order to ensure you obtain the products you need, when you need them. We have also developed a new system to manage our internal growth for up to five years, enabling us to keep pace with increasing market demands for generic drugs and remain a leading Canadian generic-drug manufacturer well into the future.
